Most Helpful Customer Reviews
Upon recieving this book and opening the first few pages I realized that I had made a mistake. I didn't find the book well structured or well written, but I was taken back in time to when a friend of mine had ordered X-ray glasses in the mail, which I thought well at least he wasted his money and not mine. At the time I recieved the book I got the feeling that my friend had in those younger years. The book is one to buy if you really don't care what you spend your money on.

SEO History

According to Danny Sullivan, the term "search engine optimization" was first used on 26 July 1997 by a spam message posted on Usenet. In the period of the search engine algorithms is not too complex so easily manipulated.

Early versions of search algorithms based solely on information provided by the webmaster through the meta tags in html code their web sites. Meta tags provide information about the content on a web page with a series of keywords (keyword). Some webmasters to manipulate the way down the keyword does not match the real site's content, so the search engine and put the wrong memeringkat site. This causes search results to be inaccurate and cause losses to both search engines and for users who expect the relevant information and quality.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two doctoral students in computer science from Stanford University, tried to overcome the problems with the build BackRub, a search engine that fully rely on mathematical algorithms to memeringkat web page. These algorithms, called PageRank, is a mathematical function of the value of a complex combination of calculation from the number of links that lead to a web page with the analysis on the weight of each link, with a scale of 1-10. Based on the principle of PageRank, in general, can be said that the web pages that have a high ranking web pages is that many in-links by another web page. PageRank value will also be high when the web page that lead to him also has a high ranking. So the value of a link from the site such as Yahoo! worth more than the combined value of one hundred links from a web site that is not known.

BackRub is just a fetus. In 1998 Page and Brin founded Google, which is the version of "adult" from BackRub. In a short period of time Google's reputation and gain trust from the public Internet because the user presents the successful results, which are relatively clean (not manipulated), fast, and relevant. PageRank directly into the system both for standard search engine for webmasters and others who work to make sure the website gain PageRank value possible so that the highest position on the search results.

The AdSense Code: What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense (Paperback)

Hidden on the Internet, scattered among billions of Web pages, are the clues to an incredible secret. For those who know the secret, the result is untold wealth. Each month, a small group of people - an elite club who have uncovered the mysteries of The AdSense Code- put their knowledge to use and receive checks for tens of thousands of dollars from Google. And untold numbers of additional site owners are regularly generating supplemental income via AdSense while they play, sleep and eat.

The AdSense Code is concise and very focused on the objective of revealing the proven online strategies to creating passive income with Google AdSense. The AdSense Code reveals hands-on solutions to many of the concerns and challenges faced by content publishers in their quest to attract targeted traffic, improve content relevance and increase responsiveness to AdSense ads - using easy and legitimate techniques that have worked for those who know the secrets. Google AdSense expert, Joel Comm, provides you with the keys you need to "crack" The AdSense Code and unlock the secrets to making money online.

Joel Comm's book "The Adsense Code: What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense," is among the better books in the show. Google AdWords and AdSense topics are usually bound as one book, but the principles for success are different.
Before readers start drooling over the concept of making money from nothing, understand the most important fact: content counts. The second fact: well-designed sites are key to success. Content first, design second, and Google is, in a big way, third. That order is crucial to finding value in Comm's book, or any of his competitor's books.

If you have AdSense already, but have never read about the better strategies, this book is for you. If you have a content-driven site, finding ways to smartly integrate AdSense will be natural. Comm can help you figure how and where you can use AdSense. It will help to have a general knowledge about how AdSense works.

A big value to AdSense in a niche site is that if your customers are simply not interested in what you offer, the ads displayed might serve them better than your site did. they came to your site believing you might have what they need, whether it was a product or knowledge. Probably, this is because your site showed well in results of a keyword search on Google. For this same reason, your site will have ads along the lines of what your customer is looking.
Learn to strategically exclude the competition, or off-color ads. Google wants good ads on your site. Whomever is advertising wants his good ads on your site. Your customer wants good ads on your site. And you want good ads. By excluding what you consider bad ads, everyone is happy. Your click-thru increases, and you make more money.

My credentials: I manage a 300+ page website dedicated to Hungarian culture and products. As a niche site aching for traffic, I use Adwords to attract customers, and AdSense to make some money to pay for the site. Professionally, I am the webmaster for a bilingual, dynamic and hard-coded, 7,500+ page site for a major hospital. Knowing Google is an important part of my small site, and my large site.
I fully recommend "The Adsense Code: What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense" by Joel Comm.

Boost Traffic to Your Website/Blog

1) Go to Google.com and run a few searches for keywords related to your business. Find those websites that target the same market as you, but that don't directly compete with you. Contact them and propose a joint venture. You could, for example, exchange advertising with them, offer them a free ebook that they can give to their visitors or invite them to promote your product in exchange for a commission on sales.

2) Visit forums related to your product/service and get involved in discussions there. Aim to answer people's questions in a competent manner so as to establish yourself as someone 'in the know'. Don't blatantly plug your website or product.

Instead, place a signature at the end of your message with a link to your website. Be sure to check the forum rules (and look at other people's messages) to avoid getting into trouble with other users

3) Find at least 10 websites to exchange links with. REAL links on proper content-filled pages are best, but even links in links pages can be okay (not FFAs, just proper permanent links pages)

4) Write an article of interest to your target market and get it published across the web. By placing a short bio at the bottom of the article (with a little info about you or your product), together with a link to your website, you'll establish
credibility as well as generate traffic. If you think you won't be able to write an article, try a simple list of tips (just like this article).

Blogroll

A blogroll is a collection of links to other weblogs. When present, blogrolls are often found on the front page sidebar of most weblogs.

Various weblog authors have different criteria for including other weblogs on their blogrolls. These range from matters of common interest to frequency of updates and posts to country/geographical/communal relations to link exchange policies. Some blogrolls also simply consist of the list of weblogs an author reads him or herself, and some news aggregators allow their users to export that list directly to a weblog.

With the advent of syndicated newsfeeds, even blogrolls can be, and are being, syndicated. OPML is one of the popular ways to syndicate a blogroll in case a weblog author wants others to be able to access the weblogs in his/her blogroll. [wikipedia]
